If you're traveling in Japan 🇯🇵 and your eSIM isn't connecting, or your hotspot option is greyed out, you're not alone. While rare, this issue can occur on both Android and Apple devices—typically due to a combination of carrier settings and phone firmware quirks.

✔️ Manually set the APN to vmobile.jp
📴 Turn off automatic network selection
↔️ Manually choose either NTT Docomo or IIJ
🔄️ (Optional) Reboot your device

🤖 For Android Devices:
✔️ Open Settings
✔️ Tap Mobile Networks
✔️ Tap Access Point Names
✔️ Select your travel eSIM (e.g., from Airsims)
✔️ Enter vmobile.jp
in the APN field
✔️ Leave all other fields blank
Then:
✔️ Go back to Mobile Networks
✔️ Turn off Auto Network Selection
✔️ Choose NTT Docomo or IIJ from the list
✔️ Restart your phone if needed

✔️ Open Settings
✔️ Tap Cellular or Mobile
