If you're traveling in Japan 🇯🇵 and your eSIM isn't connecting, or your hotspot option is greyed out, you're not alone. While rare, this issue can occur on both Android and Apple devices—typically due to a combination of carrier settings and phone firmware quirks.

The good news? It’s easy to fix with a few manual adjustments.

⏩ Quick Fix Summary:

✔️ Manually set the APN to vmobile.jp

📴 Turn off automatic network selection

↔️ Manually choose either NTT Docomo or IIJ

🔄️ (Optional) Reboot your device

✔️ Tap Access Point Names

✔️ Select your travel eSIM (e.g., from Airsims)

✔️ Enter vmobile.jp in the APN field

✔️ Leave all other fields blank

Then:

✔️ Go back to Mobile Networks

✔️ Turn off Auto Network Selection

✔️ Choose NTT Docomo or IIJ from the list

✔️ Restart your phone if needed

🍏 For Apple iOS Devices:

✔️ Open Settings

✔️ Tap Cellular or Mobile

✔️ Tap your travel eSIM (e.g., from Airsims)

✔️ Tap Cellular Data Network

✔️ Type vmobile.jp into all APN fields

Leave other fields blank
(If the APN auto-filled, tap Reset Settings and re-enter it)
