I am very impressed with the e-sim that I bought from AirSims. It's my very first time I used e-sim. During my 2 weeks visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia I did not experience any problems with wifi connections even while I visiting Genting Highlands. I bought 2 e-sims with the 3GB 15 days plan for AUD $6 which is cheap compared with others. My only comment is AirSims website appeared to be jaded and needs an up grade. AirSims will definitely have my continued support when I travel to Europe next

It worked well for my son's trip in China. He forgot to turn on roaming, and thought it didn't work. I contacted them and the response was very quick on a weekend. Great service!
We bought 2esims for our 2 1/2 weeks trip to Malaysia. Esims worked perfectly from the minute we landed. Great customer service when we almost ran out of data and was given free complimentary top up.

Recently used this e-sim on a trip to Canada and the US. Worked well overall, easy to set up and get started!
Activation was simple. I installed before the trip in Australia and while it will try and activate it won’t be able to until you land in Japan - just wait a while and it will stop attempting and you can turn it off until you land (see the end of the FAQs). My phone had trouble trying to activate while we were still on the plane but activated fine in the terminal (why yes, I am impatient.. what gave it away?).
The SIM worked fine in all areas of Japan we travelled to - from the middle of a busy city to more rural areas in Central Japan. My partner had an eSIM from a different provider utilising a different network, and anywhere that my SIM did not work theirs did not have much reception either so it was an equivalent experience. The network provider is IIJ, who utilises NTT Docomo as mentioned in the product description. Unsure that I ever got 5G however, I was mostly on LTE as far as I can recall.
The only issue that I had with this SIM is that it didn’t allow tethering/mobile hotspot in my experience. If you are wanting to share your data with someone else (your partner, your child, someone else) or even just tether to your tablet or laptop while out and about you won’t be able to do that. If you do not need this capability then you’ll find this SIM works perfectly.
Easy to set up, and got connected right after landing. Highly recommended 👍
